to close our segment on Grace, I want to share with you this beautiful testimony we just received from the Dominican Republic. It comes rom Sabana Toro Community in San Cristobal. The child’s name is Jimendi del Orbe Cabrera. He shares,
“Today I can talk in front of all my friends and other people I don’t know about what God has done in my life. Before March 17, 2019, I was a child with anger issues. I was angry because other children had bicycles and I did not, because I was not stronger than the other children, because I did not eat enough. I was angry about everything. Then a teacher named Ana Reyes came to my house and asked my parents to allow me to participate in the Prayer Covenant Program that the church was organizing with children from the community so they could learn to pray. I remember what my dad said; Yes, “take him away, so that God can change him, since I can’t.” Those words never left my head. I didn’t want to disappoint my parents, but I knew that my behavior was not right, so I attended the first meeting.
The Grace of God
I was surprised when I heard the theme: GRACE. I remember thinking that I had nothing to be grateful for, so it was when the teacher told the story of Jesus the Good Shepherd, she said that God is the great giver of GRACE, and that everything we have, we have received thanks to HIM. -Life, health, our parents, food, friends, a roof over our heads, a bed to sleep in. The teacher mentioned so many things that had been right in front of my eyes. God had filled me with so many blessings and I could not see them until now.
So, on my first day of school, God opened my eyes to see all the GRACE he had given to my life. Then the teacher asked us to repeat a few words… She said: Thank you father, for the gift of your savior, and for loving me as your son. Together we then repeated: Thank you father, for the gift of your savior, and for loving me as your son. Now, I see Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross as a favor that I can never repay, but that I can always be grateful for. For Christ and his salvation, I will always live in gratitude.
