Proverbs 1:33 reads, “whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”
Prayer and Transformation
Our story today comes from a 9-year-old boy in West Africa named Sokode Kossi Franck. He writes, I was living in insecurity because my mind often struggled against evil spirits. It was like something was following me and wanted to attack me. I was looking for someone who could protect me from such a spirit. I am a Christian and used to pray but people didn’t care about my worries. Even sometimes my parents sent me back when I would come and tell them what was happening again to me. I was feeling insecure and abandoned but when our pastor introduced the prayer covenant for children, I was committed to pray it. Now there is peace in my heart. God delivered me from my problem.
A Testimonial from West Africa
Another 8-year-old girl wrote: My name is Mawuena Emilie. My mom and I attend a church in Togo. I had a terrible fracture in my leg that could not be treated in all hospitals. We found a hospital that could treat me, but I had difficulty moving and doing activities. I began to pray the prayer covenant every day and I believe God has healed me.
Lawson Pierre wrote, I am 7 years old and I can’t help stealing money from my mother. I’m always finding ways to do this. The prayer covenant taught me I must obey God who hates theft. He answered my prayer and I no longer steal.
These are real life challenges faced by children throughout Africa and beyond. Why is it so important to teach children to pray? In order to nurture their relationship with Jesus and to disciple them in their walk with the Lord. Prayer brings transformation and results in multiplication because these children don’t keep the good news to themselves, they share it with others. By prayer and petition these children are making their requests known unto God and God, as he has promised, is hearing and answering their prayers.
