Our story today comes from a country that is 98 percent Muslim. This 14 year old boy shared the following testimony with us.
“I belong to a poor family. I have 4 brothers and sisters. There are seven of us living together in a small house. My father earns very little money. It is always a challenge to meet the needs of our family. Six months ago my father had a paralytic attack and lost his Job. We suffered a lot, as most of the time we had nothing to eat. It was really a difficult time. What made matters worse, our father was also not getting better physically. This put our family under huge pressure. I always knew in my heart that prayers can do amazing things. I learned it from “The prayer Covenant book”. One day in my Sunday school I prayed from the bottom of my heart for my father’s health. At once I felt amazing power within me. I started praying for my father’s health regularly & during our family prayer time. God answered our prayers and after a few weeks our father was completely healed. His job has also resumed. I am so thankful to God and to the Prayer Covenant for teaching me how to pray.
In Deuteronomy 33:27 we find comfort in the words, “The eternal God is your refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms.” His open arms receive those who are burdened and heavy laden. His open arms give rest to the weary, comfort to the downtrodden and hope to the hopeless. It is in the arms of the Father that we find the refuge we crave.
Psalm 27: 13,14 reads, “I am confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” The boy in today’s story shared “I knew in my heart that prayers can do amazing things.” And he prayed with all his heart and God heard and answered his prayers.
As children experience the power of prayer it builds confidence in prayer, it strengthens their faith and reassures them of God’s love for them and his desire to give them good things. Life is full of challenges and uncertainties. If parents are suffering, you know children are also overwhelmed by their burdens and stress. What a blessing to know that Jesus invites us to cast our burdens upon Him and He will sustain us even through our darkest valleys.
