How The Prayer Covenant Began
“Jesus, be the Lord of my life in new ways and change me anyway you want.” Fifty years later, at age 89, Jerry Kirk, a former pastor, is still praying that prayer and has prayed it for over nine thousand individuals. He calls me often and shares, “Candy, I’m falling more and more in love with Jesus every day through prayer. He’s changing me. I feel the power of His Holy Spirit within me. 10 Unshakeable Truths of The Prayer Covenant
The Prayer Covenant is comprised of ten unshakeable truths:
- Grace
- Love
- Compassion
- Repentance
- Worship
- Commitment
- Dependence
- Influence
- Discipleship
- Authority
Each unshakable truth has a prayer and a corresponding memory verse. We call them unshakable truths because they are centered around who Jesus is and lay a foundation for our faith. A strong foundation is very important. In Matthew 7:24-29, Jesus explains why a strong foundation is needed: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Jesus went on to explain that if there is not a strong foundation and the winds and rain come and beat upon the house, it will fall with a huge crash.
If we have a firm foundation, when trials and persecution come, we will remain faithful.

Jeremiah is the 24th book of the Old Testament, written by Jeremiah, one of the major prophets in the Old Testament. He is referred to as “the weeping prophet” as he foretold the captivity that would overcome Judah. His heart was burdened for the people but Jeremiah 33:3 is a verse of hope, an invitation to pray. It reads, “Call to me and I will answer and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” It came to Jeremiah directly from God himself. As someone who has experienced this over and over in my own life, I challenge you to take God up on His offer and see what happens.
