Christian Missions in Africa
Today we find ourselves on the African continent in a country where Christians endure religious persecution. He writes, “We are faced with many challenges on a daily basis. I did not go there at first thinking I would be involved in Christian missions, but it soon became clear that God brought me here for that purpose and was part of His plan all along. We are not allowed to share the Gospel with any native people of the area. However, with the request from some influential Christians who are foreigners helping to develop the area, they’ve given permission to gather in a limited way in order to worship God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So, we have started. I therefore have the responsibility to organize children’s classes as I am passionate about children’s ministry. After having attended so many children’s ministry seminars, I was introduced to the Prayer Covenant. My view of children’s ministry changed because I discovered that the Prayer Covenant model is so powerful, and what children’s ministries critically need. What a joy for me to teach children how to pray. With the prayer covenant, children are equipped and empowered to pray on their owns without difficulty. Because we live in such a restricted area to the gospel, we encourage the children to memorize the prayer and live out each line or theme in their daily lives. The model of the prayer covenant is so simple and easy to teach.”
Psalm 46 Prayer
Psalm 46 says, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear. Verse 6, Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall. Then Verse 10, Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
We have leaders throughout the world serving in persecuted nations. We thank God for their courage and boldness to exalt the name of Jesus, to teach the children of their nation to honor God and fear him. Psalm 45:17 reads, I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations; therefore shall the people praise you forever and ever.
You and I are blessed to live in a country where we are free to worship openly. Let us be vigilant in teaching our children to love, obey and serve Jesus with their whole heart so that His name will be praised forever and ever.
