I was recently on a call with the Director of prayer at the American Bible Society and was so inspired by a quote she shared form a book entitled, The Torch and the Sword. When she read it to me, I immediately ordered a copy of this inspiring read. The Torch and the Sword is a call to live the greatest adventure for the most noble purpose. It is not for the faint of heart, but for those who desire to live as true knights of the cross, refusing to retreat before the great darkness of our time. It is for those who will stand with courage and resolution for truth, righteousness and justice as messengers of the age to come.”
Children and youth all over the world are daily praying, “Make me a messenger of your grace, truth and righteousness. Use me for your glory…” Hallelujah! We know the Father sent his Son full of grace and truth to redeem each one of us and use us mightily to build his kingdom.
I want to speak to the ladies for a few minutes. What I’m about to share will affirm God’s value upon you and upon the children. Remember he used Mary Magdalene to share the good news of his resurrection with the disciples. He chose a woman to be the messenger. Anointed and empowered by her Lord and Savior.
Prayer for children
We are all called to be messengers of his grace, truth and justice. For those of us who are mothers, we have been given an amazing opportunity to disciple our children, to raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, to impart his truths into their hearts and minds. We are here for one purpose that is to bring glory to Jesus Christ. That’s why it is so important that we teach our children to pray, that we teach them to memorize Scripture, to hide God’s word within them and that we engage our children, even from the earliest age, to know, love and follow Jesus.
I’ll close with these words from the Torch and the Sword: The Lord called a dozen men. He changed them and they changed the world. In your time He is going to do the same with children. It is also the time of the lioness. Great are the company of women who will preach the gospel. There will be many great men of God in your time—but the great marvel and great honor will be for the women and children who walk in the ways of the Lord…..Women have a special place in this fight.” So, ladies, let’s press on and pray on…together.
