Isn’t it a joy to be able to meet with Jesus before our day begins or ends and even in between? Prayer is a lifestyle and a heavenly blessing inviting each one of us to pray anytime any place, anywhere throughout our day. Prayers can be one word, “Help!” or “Bless so and so,” or simply “Thank you Jesus!”
Pray Together as a Family
The Prayer Covenant is a tool that families can use together to build or strengthen the family altar – nurturing their relationship with Jesus and with each other. Deuteronomy 6 is a familiar passage that instructs families to impress the truths of God’s word on their children when they awake, sleep and go about their day. God has commanded that we love Him. Scripture shows us that love and obedience are intricately linked and vitally important in our walk with Jesus. Jesus Himself said, Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them (John 14:23).
Love God Through Obeying Him
An expression of our love for God is shown in the way we obey Him by loving others. God has not given us an impossible to-do list. I John 5:3 reads, This is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome…
We Are To Love Others
John wrote since God loves us, we are to love others. . If we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us (I John 4:12).
Loving others may not always be easy. No doubt your children already know this. It takes investment of time and resources. It takes being intentional about caring for the needs of others more than our own, putting others first and inviting the Spirit of God to love through us. That is why we pray, “Help me love and obey you and empower me to love others the way you love me.”
Because this prayer is in accordance with God’s will for each of us, we can expect immediate answers when prayed. Praise God He shows up when we call out to Him asking Him for everything that He already desires to give in abundance–His amazing grace and His complete and perfect love.
