Psalm 2:8, Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance…” Psalm 2 looks forward to the day when Jesus will be crowned as King of the whole earth. Our team is always encouraged when we receive testimonies from around the world.
Our story below comes from a pastor in Liberia. Liberia is a country in West Africa, bordering Sierra Leone, Guinea and the Ivory Coast. It is one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world. The average age of its citizens is only 17 years old.
Testimonial from Liberia
The U.K. Telegraph shared some interesting facts on this country. Liberia was founded in 1821 by The American Colonization Society as a place for freed African Americans to migrate to. More than 10,000 made the journey across the Atlantic, aided by the society, until Liberia declared independence in 1847. Joseph Jenkins Roberts, a freed slave from Virginia, became its first president.
Children and the Gospel
One pastor wrote:
We thank God for all of you. I believe strongly that the Lord brought you here because I am personally in need. Our children and youth have not shown interest in prayer so you can imagine their spiritual lives. I was looking for a new way to minister to children so they would understand and develop a prayer life, learning to pray Christ centered prayers and walk in obedience to Christ’s commands. Even today I went some place to try to initiate a regular meeting with children, but I tell you, I didn’t really know with which tools I should minister to them to achieve the burden that I carry. So please know how grateful we are for your coming and resources. Thank you, Prayer Covenant, for providing the structure we needed to disciple our children and youth.
Prayer
Father, we lift up the nation of Liberia to you asking for a spirit of prayer to fall upon the children and youth of the nation. We pray you will continue to raise up leaders with a passion to disciple children: to reach them with the gospel, rescue them from oppression, root them in the Scriptures and release them to minister to those in their communities. We pray for protection over our leaders ministering there. Provide for their every need. Encourage and strengthen them. We pray they will not grow weary in doing well and will impact many for the kingdom. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
