Again we find ourselves in a predominantly Muslim country unable to share the child’s name or the name of the country. This boy wrote, I am 13 years old. In my early childhood I always saw my parents fighting with each other on different issues. I didn’t see real love & mercy in our house. It started affecting my personality; I became stubborn and couldn’t really love anyone. I didn’t have any friends and never shared my things with anyone. Most of the time I was depressed. I developed an interest in listening to Bible stories at Sunday School and started finding peace in them. One day, I learned the story of ”Good Samaritan” from the Prayer Covenant book. That story and specifically Samaritan character really touched me. It inspired me seeing how the Samaritan shared his things and showed love and compassion to the injured man. I also started praying “Dear Heavenly Father, help me love others the way you love me”. I thank God for all His blessings & mercy upon me. Now I have started sharing things with others and I have two friends. The stubbornness in my life has also decreased. I am grateful to The Prayer Covenant and my Sunday School teachers that has had such a great impact on my life.
In Hebrews 4 we find, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Kindness wasn’t modeled for this boy growing up in his family. In fact, instead of kindness he saw anger and discord. It affected him in a negative way understandably. But this boy found peace and hope in the stories from the word of God. The story of the good Samaritan inspired him, and prayer transformed him. We praise God for his faithfulness In Psalm 34:18 where we read, The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Hearing his parents fight day in and day out crushed his spirit. He shared that he felt unable to love but he wanted to be different. He wanted to be more like the good Samaritan, gracious, generous and loving. When he began to pray, Father, help me love others the way you love me,” his prayers were answered.
When we intentionally pray and ask God for his supernatural intervention in our lives; when he sees our hearts and knows we are longing to be more like Him, He hears from heaven and answers those prayers. Be blessed friends,
