“When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.” Daniel 6:10
Daniel was unwavering in his faith to continually pray to his God, even in perilous times. During the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar under Babylonian rule, it was illegal to make a petition to any God or man but the king. However, Daniel was unshakable in his prayers to God and was continually delivered, even escaping an attack from a den of lions. As a result of Daniel’s prayers, God brought the Israelites from Babylon back into the land and changed the history of the nation of Israel.
Today, people are desperate for hope and deliverance in these trying times. And there has been a staggering number of people who are turning to prayer. Google search trends show that searches related to thoughts and prayers are up 391% since last year, and searches related to prayers for healing are up 1,000% since last year.
We can be encouraged by our heroes in the faith like Daniel, who demonstrated that a lifestyle of prayer moves mountains. God hears our cries and will comfort us in all our troubles.
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant and their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, delivers them.” Psalm 34:4-7
The Father loves when we turn to him. He desires that we come to him with all our anxieties and fears. He looks upon us with love and compassion. Take courage! We have a strong, all-mighty God who will walk with us through all our trials and fight our battles for us (Exodus 14:14).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank you that you move mountains through our prayers. Thank you for your constant deliverance and the supernatural peace you give to all who ask. Help us to develop a lifestyle of prayer and run to you in every situation. May your love continue to draw us near to you as you draw near to us. Give us faith to believe that you will always answer when we call and will save us from all our troubles. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
